KS2 & KS3 Tutoring

Sign Love to Learn

Parents choose to enlist the services of a private tutor for a whole host of reasons. Perhaps your child lacks confidence. Maybe you think they're capable of more and need someone to give them a boost. Would you like your Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 learner to become more independent in their learning? Whatever your reason, face-to-face English and Maths tuition from ACE Tuition Harpenden can support your child to reach their potential with personalised weekly sessions.

ASSESS

Once you have decided that ACE Tuition is the right fit for your family, we will discuss which areas you feel your child needs to develop. This could be overall confidence and/or competence in a subject, or perhaps something very specific identified by their teacher, e.g. using a variety of sentence structures in their writing or getting to grips with trickier algebra concepts. I will review any recent school books and school reports and we will agree on a plan of action to support your child.

Sessions take place in your home weekly during term time (and during school holidays by agreement). The cost for a one-hour one-to-one session is £55. This includes the purchase of any resources such as workbooks and flashcards, and covers the time taken for planning, preparation and review.

TEACH

Each ACE Tuition session is guided by the individual needs of your child and will usually consist of a combination of pre-teaching and consolidation. As well as teaching specific subject knowledge and skills, a significant emphasis is placed on supporting your child to develop a more ambitious attitude and sense of responsibility; growing their confidence and the resilience needed to take risks in their learning; and empowering them to become more independent in their studies.

Not all children love learning; however, with the support of an enthusiastic teacher who consistently champions them, they can learn to appreciate both the extrinsic and intrinsic rewards that come from hard work, perseverance, consistency and — in time — reaching their goals.

REVIEW

Your child's progress will be continually monitored so that every session can be personalised to ensure progress towards any agreed goals. At the end of each half term, we will arrange a meeting where we can discuss and celebrate successes and agree next steps for your child. If it is felt that they could benefit from additional home learning activities, these will be planned carefully and thoughtfully to ensure they are both useful and manageable.

Sessions are booked in half term blocks; written confirmation will be required before the end of each half term stating that you wish to continue with ACE Tuition. Sessions can also be booked in small groups (of up to three students) if the children are at a similar attainment level with similar goals.
